Invocation for when it rains

172:- O Allah , (bring) beneficial rain clouds.

اللّهُمَّ صَيِّـباً نافِـعاً

172. Allaahumma sayyiban naafi'an

Supplication after it rains
173:- It has rained by the bounty of Allah and His mercy

مُطِـرْنا بِفَضْـلِ اللهِ وَرَحْمَـتِهِ

173. Mutirnaa bifadhlillaahi wa rahmatihi.

Invocation for the withholding of the rain
174:- O Allah , let it pass us and not fall upon us , but upon the hills and mountains, and the center of the valleys , and upon the forested lands.

اللّهُمَّ حَوالَيْنا وَلا عَلَيْـنَا، اللّهُمَّ عَلى الآكَـامِ  وَالظِّـرابِ، وَبُطُـونِِ

الأوْدِيةِ، وَمَنـابِِتِ الشَّجَـرِ


174. Allaahumma hawaalaynaa wa laa 'alaynaa. Allaahumma 'alal-'aakaami wadh-dhiraabi, wa butoonil-'awdiyati, wa manaabitish-shajari.

Invocation for sighting the new moon
175:- Allah is the Most Great . O Allah , bring us the new moon with security and Faith, with peace and in Islam, and in harmony with what our Lord loves and what pleases Him. Our Lord and your Lord is Allah.


اللهُ أَكْـبَر، اللّهُمَّ أَهِلَّـهُ عَلَيْـنا بِالأمْـنِ وَالإيمـان، والسَّلامَـةِ

والإسْلامِ، وَالتَّـوْفيـقِ لِما تُحِـبُّ 
رَبَّنـا وَتَـرْضَـى، رَبُّنـا

وَرَبُّكَ اللهُ


175. Allaahu 'Akbar, Allaahumma 'ahillahu 'alayna bil'amni wal'eemaani, wassalaamati wal-'Islaami, wattawfeeqi limaa tuhibbu Rabbanaa wa tardhaa, Rabbunaa wa Rabbukallaahu.

Invocations for breaking the fast
176:- The thirst is gone, the veins are moistened and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills.

ذَهَـبَ الظَّمَـأُ، وَابْتَلَّـتِ العُـروق، وَثَبَـتَ الأجْـرُ إِنْ شـاءَ

الله


176. Thahabadh-dhama'u wabtallatil-'urooqu, wa thabatal-'ajru 'inshaa'Allaah.

177:- O Allah, I ask You by Your mercy, which encompasses all things, that You forgive me.

اللّهُـمَّ  إِنَّـي أَسْـأَلُـكَ بِرَحْمَـتِكَ الّتي وَسِـعَت كُلَّ شيء، أَنْ

تَغْـفِرَ لِي


177. Allaahumma 'innee 'as'aluka birahmatikal-latee wasi'at kulla shay'in 'an taghfira lee.

Reference: Ibn Majah 1/557 from a supplication of Abdullah bin 'Amr. Al-Hafidh graded it as good in his checking of An-Nawawi's Kitabul-'Athkdr. See Sharhul- Athkar 4/342.



Invocations before eating
178:- When anyone of you begins eating, say:
In the Name of Allah.

بِسْمِ الله

178. Bismillaah.

And if you forget then, when you remember, say:
In the Name of Allah, in the beginning and in the end.

بِسْمِ اللهِ في أَوَّلِهِ وَآخِـرِهِ

Bismillaahi fee 'awwalihi wa 'aakhirihi.

179:- Whomever Allah has given food, should say:
O Allah, bless us in it and provide us with better than it.

اللّهُـمَّ بارِكْ لَنا فيهِ وَأَطْـعِمْنا خَـيْراً مِنْـهُ

179. Allaahumma baarik lanaafeehi wa 'at'imnaa khayranminhu.

Whomever Allah has given milk to drink, should say:
O Allah , bless us in it and give us more of it.


اللّهُـمَّ بارِكْ لَنا فيهِ وَزِدْنا مِنْهُ

Allaahumma baarik lanaa feehi wa zidnaa minhu.

Invocations after eating
180:- Praise is to Allah Who has given me this food and sustained me with it though I was unable to do it and powerless.

الْحَمْـدُ للهِ الَّذي أَطْعَمَنـي هـذا وَرَزَقَنـيهِ مِنْ غَـيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي

وَلا قُوَّةٍ


180. Alhamdu lillaahil-lathee 'at'amanee haathaa, wa razaqaneehi, min ghayri hawlin minnee wa laa quwwatin.

181:- All praise is to Allah, praise in abundance, good and blessed. It cannot [be compensated for, nor can it] be left, nor can it be done without , our Lord.

الْحَمْـدُ للهِ حَمْـداً كَثـيراً طَيِّـباً مُبـارَكاً فيه، غَيْرَ[مَكْفِيٍّ وَلا]

مُوَدَّعٍ، وَلا مُسْتَغْـنىً عَنْـهُ رَبُّـنا


181. Alhamdu lillaahi hamdan katheeran tayyiban mubaarakan feehi, ghayra [makfiyyin wa laa] muwadda'in, wa laa mustaghnan 'anhu Rabbanaa.

A dinner guest's invocation for his host
182:- O Allah , bless them in what You have provided for them , and forgive them and have mercy on them.

اللّهُـمَّ بارِكْ لَهُمْ فيما رَزَقْـتَهُم، وَاغْفِـرْ لَهُـمْ وَارْحَمْهُمْ

182. Allaahumma baarik lahum feemaa razaqtahum, waghfir lahum warhamhum.

Reference: Muslim 3/1615



Invocation for someone who gives you drink or offers it to you
183:- O Allah , feed the one who has fed me and drink to the one who has given me drink.

اللّهُـمَّ أَطْعِمْ مَن أَطْعَمَني، وَاسْقِ مَن سَقَانِي

183. Allaahumma 'at'im man 'at'amanee wasqi man saqaanee.

Invocation for a family who invites you to break your fast with them
184:- With you , those who are fasting have broken their fast, you have fed those who are righteous , and the angels recite their prayers upon you.

أَفْطَـرَ عِنْدَكُم الصّـائِمونَ، وَأَكَلَ طَعامَـكُمُ الأبْـرار، وَصَلَّـتْ

عَلَـيْكُمُ الملائِكَـة


184. 'Aftara 'indakumus-saa'imoona, wa 'akala ta'aamakumul-'abraaru , wa sallat 'alaykumul-malaa'ikatu.

Reference: Abu Dawud 3/367, Ibn Majah 1/556, An-Nasa'i, 'Amalul-Yawm wal-Laylah 296-8. Al-Albani graded it authentic in Sahih Abu Dawud 2/730.



Invocation for someone who offers you food when you are fasting, which you decline
185:- When you are invited (to eat) then reply to the invitation. If you are fasting then invoke Allah's blessings (on your host), and if you are not fasting then eat.

What to say when you are fasting and someone is rude to you
186:- I am fasting . I am fasting.

إنِّي صَائِمٌ ,  إنِّي صَائِمٌ

186. 'Inneesaa'imun, 'innee saa'imun.

Invocation for when you see the first dates of the season
187:- O Allah , bless us in our dates and bless us in our town, bless us in our Sa' and in our Mudd.

اللّهُـمَّ بارِكْ لَنا في ثَمَـرِنا، وَبارِكْ لَنا في مَدينَتِنـا، وَبارِكْ لَنا في

صَاعِنـَا، وَبارِكْ لَنا فِي مُدِّنا


187. Allahumma baarik lanaa fee thamarinaa , wa baarik lanaa fee madeenatinaa wa baarik lanaa fee saa'inaa, wa baarik lanaa fee muddinaa.

Reference: Muslim 2/1000 (Sa' and Mudd are both dry measures used for agricultural produce by the Arabs in the Prophet's time. Of the two, the So.' was the larger measure.) (Translator)



Invocation for sneezing
188:- When you sneeze , then say:
All praises and thanks are to Allah.

الْحَمْـدُ للهِ

Alhamdu lillaah

Your companion should say:
May Allah have mercy upon you.

يَرْحَمُـكَ الله

Yarhamukallaah

When someone says Yarhamukallaah to you then you should say:
May Allah guide you and set your affairs in order.

يَهْـديكُـمُ اللهُ وَيُصْـلِحُ بالَـكُم

Yahdeekumul-laahu wa yuslihu baalakum.

What to say to the disbeliever if he sneezes and praises Allah
189:- May Allah guide you and set your affairs in order

يَهْـديكُـمُ اللهُ وَيُصْـلِحُ بالَـكُم

189. Yahdeekumullaahu wa yuslihu baalakum.

Invocation for the groom
190:- May Allah bless you, and shower His blessings upon you , and join you together in goodness.

بارَكَ اللّهُ لَك، وَبارَكَ عَلَـيْك، وَجَمَعَ بَيْـنَكُما في خَـيْرٍ

190. Baarakallaahu laka, wa baaraka 'alayka, wa jama'a baynakumaa fee khayrin.

The groom's invocation and what he says upon purchasing an animal
191:- When any of you marries a woman or purchases a maid-servant then let him say:
O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of her and the goodness upon which You have created her, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of her and from the evil upon which You have created her.

اللّهُـمَّ  إِنَّـي أَسْـأَلُـكَ خَيْـرَها، وَخَيْـرَ ما لَجَبَلْـتَه عَلَـيْه،

وَأَعـوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَـرِّها، وَشَـرِّ ما جَبَلْـتَهَـا عَلَـيْه


191. Allaahumma 'innee 'as'aluka khayrahaa wa khayra majabaltahaa 'alayhi wa 'a'oothu bika min sharrihaa wa sharri maajabaltahaa 'alayhi.

If you purchase a camel then take hold of the top of its hump and say the same.
